Despite having written to our Conservative MP, Gareth Bacon, on 25th May 2022 with regards to urging him to write a Letter of No Confidence in the Prime Minister due to his conduct, we did not receive a reply beyond a standard acknowledgement of the message.

Since then, in fact, to day at time of writing, the threshold of letters to the 1922 Committee withdrawing support of Conservative MPs from Johnson has been met with a vote of no confidence taking place tonight.

Mr. Bacon has subsequently tweeted that he intends to fully support Johnson in tonight’s vote:

We are very disappointed, not only with his failure to respond to our open letter to him, but also this response to the vote.

Despite our policy differences, Johnson as Prime Minister has shown himself to be an appalling leader. A man who has been proved to have lied to Parliament, and to the Nation on numerous occasions (for concrete examples checkout Peter Stenfanovic’s You Tube Channel), has turned the UK into a joke on the World Stage, broken numerous laws in the process (and lied to try to cover them up), and continues to fail to take responsibility for the continued personal and policy failures he has imposed on the country (despite saying he has, another lie).

Therefore we have to state that Mr. Bacon’s position is not one that meets the needs of either the constituency, nor the country at this time.

Orpington deserves better than this.
