Bromley Pride Night Tuesday 18th June The Star and Garter, Bromley High Street, BR1 1NZ 19:30hrs until late
Tuesday 18th June @19:30hrs…
Bromley Labour & Bromley Young Labour (@BromleyYL) invite members and non-members to celebrate LGBT Pride month in Bromley, mixing a party, politics & protest, to hear from speakers on current issues affecting our LGBT residents and how Labour councillors & councils are working to support LGBT communities.
June is LGBT Pride Month, chosen to commemorate the anniversary of the Stonewall riots 50 years ago with events taking place around London & the U.K. Unlike many councils, Bromley does not mark Pride month in any way.
This is not much of a surprise, from a council which in the past banned gay couples from holding partnership ceremonies in council premises and has still largely ignores the needs of LGBT people in providing local services. With the recent protests over LGBT+ education, Brunei enacting stoning to death as a punishment for gay sex and the rise in homophobia, transphobia and hate crime in the U.K, we feel Pride this year is especially important to celebrate and show we stand solidly in support of LGBT equality in Bromley.
LGBT+ Members and non-members, allies, partners, friends & family are all welcome to join us to celebrating Pride and our support for Bromley’s lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans community.
