Our Response to Partnership in Power: Health
The Labour government’s massive injection of much needed resources into the NHS and the introduction of targets in health care standards have undoubtably been successful. The cut in waiting times has been dramatic and must have led to the saving of life. However such successes not only have to be balanced by problems occuring afterwards, and the distortions in some other treatments because of this, but also by the fact that in many cases the quality of treatment is still at the bottom of a Euro-comparison list.
All Member Meetings for Orpington
At our recent AGM we agreed to move from our current Branch meeting and General Committee meeting structure to All Member meetings. This will allow all Orpington Labour Party members to attend a monthly CLP meeting, join in the discussion and take part in any vote.
New CLP Officers for 2008
At our AGM we elected new officers for the coming year. We are pleased to announce that Nigel de Gruchy, former General Secretary of NASUWT and TUC President, was elected as constituency Secretary.
